Comparison

wakesys vs
VenueSumo

Two systems for activity parks, built on opposite sides of the world. Here is what each actually does, checked against their live product rather than their marketing.

VenueSumo is a capable Australian platform with genuinely deep memberships and food and beverage, and a real 0% booking fee. Where it thins out is minors: their waiver lets one adult add unlimited children with no relationship field, no per-minor consent and a client-supplied IP address. For a trampoline park or indoor play centre, where most participants are children, that is the part worth checking before you sign.

Why Switch

Why operators choose wakesys over VenueSumo

Real reasons from real park operators who made the switch.

Guardian consent is asked, not assumed

Their waiver has an "Add Another Minor" repeater with no relationship field. wakesys asks whether each child is the signer's own, blocks a non-guardian with a full-screen confirmation, and offers a link so the real parent can sign from their own phone.

Evidence that holds up

Their form fetches the signer's IP in the browser from a third-party service and posts it in a hidden field. wakesys records IP and user agent server-side, stores a SHA-256 hash of the submitted fields with a signature checksum, and archives a PDF.

Not one waiver form

Their entry plan includes a single waiver form, so a park needing separate adult, minor and event documents has to move up a tier. wakesys does not count your forms.

RFID and turnstiles

"Turnstile" appears nowhere in VenueSumo's 309 pages, and RFID only in descriptions of other vendors. If your gate, your wristbands or your access control matter, that is a hard stop.

Courses and camps as real products

Their classes exist as a membership benefit rather than a bookable course, with no enrolment, multi-day or roster feature. wakesys runs beginner courses and multi-day summer camps as products in their own right.

If you are in Europe

No European production customer was found, there is no UK company registration despite a listed Bristol office, and there is no German or French interface and no fiscal support beyond Australian GST.

The wakesys Difference

What sets wakesys apart

Features you won't find anywhere else.

The waiver knows who is signing

Most systems, VenueSumo included, put guardianship in a paragraph of the waiver text and never test it. wakesys turns it into a question with two answers, a block, and a route to the actual parent.

We run a park on it

Charleston Aqua Park runs on wakesys, and we spend our own money on the ads that fill it. VenueSumo is a software company with ex-operators on staff, which is not the same thing as closing the gates yourself on a wet Saturday.

We will tell you when they are better

Their 0% booking fee is real and committed across all three tiers. Their memberships are deeper than ours today. Their support is the single most praised thing in their reviews. If those are what you need, they are a good answer.

FAQ

Switching from VenueSumo?

Common questions answered.

Their waiver is a three-step flow: adult or guardian details, then minors, then a declaration. The minors step has an "Add Another Minor" repeater, so one adult signs for an unlimited number of children. There is no field for the signer's relationship to each child, no per-minor consent and no guardianship attestation. Guardianship is asserted only by a sentence in the template body.

A drawn signature and an IP address. The IP is fetched by the browser from a third-party lookup service and submitted in a hidden field, meaning it is supplied by the client rather than recorded from the request server-side. The word "hash" does not appear anywhere across their 309 site pages or 274 help articles, and there is no documented tamper-evidence or PDF export of a signed waiver.

Not comparable on headline price alone. VenueSumo's entry tier is listed at USD $300 per month by the Gartner review network and they charge no booking fee, which is a genuine commitment. What is not published anywhere is their payment processing rate, and they operate as a payment facilitator so that margin is theirs to set. Ask both of us for the processing rate in writing before comparing.

No. The word "turnstile" does not appear on any of their 309 pages, and RFID appears only where they describe other vendors. They integrate arcade card systems such as Sacoa and Tigapo instead. If access control or gate integration is part of your operation, this is a hard limitation rather than a roadmap item.

Not in production. Independent enumeration of their live booking subdomains in September 2026 found 48 tenants across 156 venues: 116 in Australia and New Zealand, 34 in the United States and 5 in South Africa. UK infrastructure exists only as demo environments, and no UK company registration exists despite a Bristol office appearing on every page.

Memberships, which run to about forty documented workflows including tokenized recurring billing, pausing, reinstatement and wallet passes. Food and beverage with recipe cards, purchase orders and stocktakes. Capacity pools with overbooking allowances. And support responsiveness, which is the most-praised thing across every one of their reviews. We would not try to talk you out of any of that.
