What an indoor playground system looks like in wakesys
An indoor playground in wakesys is a set of timed play sessions with a capacity, one set per age area. Tickets, parties and waivers hang off a session; memberships and the POS sit alongside them on the same booking page. These are the objects the system holds:
- Play session
- Date, start time, length, capacity, price. The toddler zone and the main playground are separate activities, each with its own sessions and price.
- Ticket
- One per child, sold online or at the iPad POS, counted against the session capacity either way.
- Guardian waiver
- Parents sign for their children before arriving. For every child, the signer is asked whether the child is their own; if not, they send the parent a link to sign.
- Party
- The host books a package and shares one link; each family claims its own children's tickets and signs its own waivers. A party can take a whole session.
- Membership
- Memberships, season passes and punch cards with included visits or a discount on tickets. A parent buys for several children in one checkout and signs in with their e-mail to book at the member price.
- POS
- Walk-in tickets and add-ons on the iPad, card payments on Stripe Terminal, walk-ins sign at the on-site kiosk, one-tap check-in once the waiver is signed.
Parties, memberships and per-visit tickets sell from the same booking page and the same POS. Monthly and annual membership billing arrives in December 2026.
What to look for in indoor playground software
Based on running activity venues and talking to playground operators, here's what actually matters:
- Birthday party workflow: Group bookings with individual claiming. Parents enter their own kids' info and sign waivers from home.
- Waiver integration: Waivers should be part of booking, not a separate step. Parents should arrive with everything signed.
- Capacity management: Session-based or time-based capacity limits. Visual indicators create booking urgency.
- Walk-in support: Not everyone books ahead. Your POS should handle walk-ins and waiver signing on-site.
- Mobile speed: Most parents book on their phones. If mobile booking is slow, you're losing birthday parties.
- Transparent pricing: Understand the full cost upfront. Ask about setup fees, monthly minimums, and long-term contracts.
